Introduction
In 2020, the Vita Nativa Association and the Seixal Municipality, through the Seixal Municipal Ecomuseum, began a partnership to start the inventory of biodiversity at the Fábrica de Pólvora de Vale de Milhaços and promote environmental awareness actions.
Consequently, in 2021, Vita Nativa developed the first Biodiversity Valorisation Plan for the Fábrica de Pólvora de Vale de Milhaços, a project that lasted one year and which, in 2023, had its renewal approved.
The Biodiversity Valorisation Plan includes the continuation of the biodiversity inventory and monitoring process, the implementation of environmental conservation and restoration measures, the promotion of environmental awareness activities and the dissemination and promotion of the natural values of this unique space in the municipality of Seixal.
Objectives
Survey and monitoring of the biodiversity of the Fábrica de Pólvora de Vale de Milhaços.
Control and monitoring of invasive flora in the Fábrica de Pólvora de Vale de Milhaços.
Sensitise the community to the importance of biodiversity conservation and the effects of climate change.
Promote the natural values of the Fábrica de Pólvora de Vale de Milhaços.
