Several species of shorebirds nest on the ground. With the deterioration of coastal lagoons and salt marshes, these birds are forced to find new nesting sites. And salt marshes are often where these birds find them. Since 2021, Vita Nativa has been helping the shorebirds of the Ria Formosa by placing artificial islands in salt production areas.

Join us to get to know our bio-islands and discover the species which use them for nesting!
