More than 500 species of fauna, flora and fungi have been catalogued inside the Fábrica de Pólvora de Vale de Milhaços, which covers 13.4 hectares. A surprise for such a heritage site in an urban context, so pressured by human activity in its surroundings and which is the origin of the expression “Island of Biodiversity” attributed to this place.

This session will be held by biologists who will share the importance of inventory processes for nature conservation, sampling techniques and citizen science tools, with a special focus on the work carried out at the Fábrica de Pólvora de Vale de Milhaços by technicians from the Associação Vita Nativa.

This activity is part of the Plan to Valorise the Biodiversity of the Fábrica de Pólvora de Vale de Milhaços, a partnership between the Seixal Municipal Ecomuseum and the Associação Vita Nativa.
